Melody is a Nubian x Toggenberg and she is providing us with 3 litres of delicious milk per day. Everyone loves her, she’s an absolute sweetheart!
Harmony is a Boer goat. We bought her as a companion for Melody, but we can breed her and we hope to cross her with a dairy variety. She is really lovely too, but still a little shy as she was raised in a herd on a goat meat farm. So we saved her life. She’s coming around. She let Bridget pat her today.

Your goats are cute. Melody’s ears look like she could fly. You should try making cheese. Goat cheese is delicious

Thanks, Virginia. Yes, Melody’s ears are spectacular. I made my first soft cheese today and it certainly is delicious!

So, you too have a Nigerian and a Boer like us! However, our Nigerian is a dwarf and our Boer is for the freezer this fall.
We are loving our goats milk so we’ve opted to get a full size doe as soon as we have the extra money. Our dwarf only gives us 3 cups of milk a day and at the moment, she’s in heat so she’s giving less than that.
I saw your entry on the cheese. Maybe after we get a bigger doe, we’ll try our hand at cheese. I LOVE cheese!! It’s one of my most favorite foods.
Blessings ~
Lisa
